Your paper should include as much of the following information as possible. You should provide adequate background material to acquaint a scientific reader of the nature/function of your gene, mRNA & protein, any important biological features and its implication in the disease state(s).

Each section should have a thorough written discussion of the properties/biology/function etc. You should not just dump data/tables etc. from NCBI, the information needs to be put in a biological context. You need to explain things in your own words.

All figures/tables/cartoons etc. should have a title and a caption explaining the important points you’re making with that figure.

For one figure, create a representation of a protein related to your gene (i.e. related structure) which illustrates some functional aspect of your protein (i.e. a binding site, a protein interface, catalytic residues etc.) using Jmol, then save an image of your creation (for use in the paper).

5 Points Conclusions & References (at least 10 Refs. Including journals, books, websites etc.) State main findings and tie results together. What direction is current research taking? What future treatments may be effective?
